On the morning of June 23, 2023 in Quang Nam province, the German business delegation led by the Co-Chairman of German Business Association (GBA) Mr. Elmar Dutt, GBA Vice-Chairman/Chief Representative of the German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam) Mr. Marko Walde, and GBA Board member Mr. Andre de Jong, had a meeting with Mr. Ho Quang Buu, the Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee and the leaders of related departments and agencies, to bolster the economic cooperation between Germany and Vietnam in Quang Nam province.
In the opening speech, the Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee Mr. Ho Quang Buu provided an overview of the provincial potentials, and specific industries, fields that Quang Nam is prioritizing calling for investment. Located in an important position in the central region’s economic hub, Quang Nam has many advantages in natural and human resources for economic development. In addition, Quang Nam is the second largest province in attracting FDI in the Central region, more and more international investors choose Quang Nam as the location to make investments in the processing and manufacturing industries, tourism and services.
Mr. Elmar Dutt, Co-Chairman of GBA, in his speech at the meeting, reaffirmed GBA’s commitment to collaborative efforts for shared benefits. There are now more than 700 German enterprises investing directly and indirectly in Vietnam with a total registered capital of more than 10 billion USD and created about 100,000 jobs. Currently, there are 7 highlighted projects of German investors in Quang Nam with a total registered capital of nearly 170 million USD, notably the projects of Groz-Beckert Company with investment capital of more than 100 million USD and the project of Amann Company with an investment capital of more than 20 million USD. He believes that Quang Nam province is becoming an attractive investment destination for not only domestic but also foreign investors.
During the dialogue with the local authority, GBA members addressed their current issues in daily business operation and provided their practical suggestions towards the provincial development orientation. Mr. Dutt hopes that Quang Nam province will create all possible conditions and an equal business environment for all foreign enterprises, while raising the provincial competitiveness.
Besides, Mr. Marko Walde, Chief Representative of AHK Vietnam, stressed that to increase the attractiveness of Quang Nam and improve its investment environment, the local authorities should pay more attention to some focus areas such as: vocational training, energy security, environmental protection and sustainability development, the digitalization of administrative processes, tax incentives and consumption stimulus packages for foreign enterprises.
