BASF has been active in Vietnam since the establishment of its representative office in 1994. BASF Vietnam Limited was set up in 2009. The company maintains two sales offices in Hồ Chí Minh City and Hà Nội, offering solutions for Vietnam’s key industries, including agriculture, construction, automotive, footwear, paints and coatings and electrical and electronics. BASF’s sales to customers in Vietnam were approximately €284 million in 2020. BASF employed 117 people in Vietnam as of the end of the year.
Community Engagement:
BASF has been contributing to science education in Vietnam through its interactive and fun-filled experiments at BASF Kids’ Lab since 2011, in partnership with Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education & Training. Nearly 5,000 primary students have joined this initiative. BASF has also launched Virtual Lab, an online platform that offers children a variety of interactive chemistry experiments in Vietnamese.
BASF offers scholarships to underprivileged students and supports school painting and renovation projects in remote areas through collaboration with Saigon Children’s Charity. Five schools have been renovated since 2015, benefiting more than 500 children. The school painting program conducted in partnership with Nippon Paint has redecorated almost 8,000 square meters of school area, benefiting almost 1,400 children.
In Vietnam, BASF also offers public playgrounds designed to spark creativity and built with child-friendly and recyclable materials for about 12,000 kids in various locations. The initiative is facilitated by the social enterprise Think Playgrounds to help children learn through play.
