Vietnam has decided to grant e-visas to citizens of all countries and territories entering Vietnam from August 15, according to a government resolution on Monday, August 14, 2023.

Starting from 15 August 2023, citizens of countries that are unilaterally exempted from visas by Vietnam, including German passports, can stay without a visa for up to 45 days regardless the purpose. A further key change is that electronic visas (e-visas) can be applied for up to 90 days, instead of the previous 30 days and can be single or multi-entry. This means they can enter and leave Vietnam multiple times within those 90 days, without having to apply for a new visa each time.

What is Vietnam’s e-Visa?

Vietnam’s e-Visa is one of the visa types offered by the Vietnam Immigration Department to foreigners entering the country. The e-Visa is valid for up to 90 days and allows single or multiple entries. The e-Visa costs 25 USD for card payments on the official website. It takes three full working days to process. Vietnam’s e-Visa is currently available to nationals of 80 countries as of July 2020. Travelers can apply for e-Visas directly on the [Vietnam e-Visa Official Website].
