SN 55 3

Ho Chi Minh City, 11 September 2023 – The GBA Monthly Business Meeting in September was a success, with approximately 60 participants joining in person and virtually at Renaissance Riverside Saigon. The meeting was chaired by GBA Board member Jan-Christian Koldehoff from Fr. Meyer’s Sohn Vietnam, along with three keynote speakers: Ms. Trang Bui from Cushman & Wakefield Vietnam, Mr. Tom Tabouring from ITL Logistics and Mr. Xing Zhang from Cainiao Network Vietnam

With main topic of discussion being the logistic infrastructure in South Vietnam, the meeting aimed to review the current situation, identify challenges and opportunities, and propose solutions and strategies for improving logistic efficiency in the region. The meeting lasted for two hours and concluded with a summary of the key points and action items regarding three main topics:

Infrastructure in South-Vietnam and the impact on the transportation costs: The speakers highlighted the need for improving the road network, the port capacity, and the customs clearance procedures to reduce the delays and costs of moving goods across the border. They also shared some best practices and recommendations for optimizing the transportation routes and modes.

Over-supply of warehousing versus decrease in demand: The speakers analyzed the reasons behind this imbalance, such as the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the trade tensions, and the changing consumer behavior. They also suggested some strategies for managing the excess inventory, such as consolidating warehouses, renegotiating contracts, and diversifying markets.

Green logistics | The challenge of MNC’s targets of carbon neutral goals on the logistics industry: The speakers explained the importance of adopting sustainable practices in the logistics industry, such as reducing emissions, waste, and energy consumption. They also presented some examples of green initiatives and technologies that can help achieve these goals, such as using renewable energy sources, electric vehicles, and smart logistics systems.

We would like to express our gratitude to our event co-organizer BeluxCham, our keynote speakers and all participants for their fruitful and constructive contributions!
