On 26 February 2026, the German Business Association (GBA), in collaboration with Messe Frankfurt, successfully hosted the GBA Members for Members Workshop “Vietnam on the Rise – What Economic Trends Mean for Textiles” at VIATT 2026 bringing together German exhibitors, institutional representatives, and industry stakeholders.
The workshop highlighted Vietnam’s growing importance within global textile supply chains and showcased the strength of Germany–Vietnam cooperation across apparel, home textiles, technical textiles, certification, and machinery. Participants gained valuable insights into market trends, regulatory developments, and partnership opportunities, followed by an engaging networking session with exhibitors at the German Pavilion.
The event was honoured by the presence of H.E. Andrea Sühl, German Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, who visited the German Pavilion and joined the session, reaffirming strong institutional support for bilateral economic cooperation in the textile sector.
Speaker Highlights:
• Ms. Claudia Franz (Messe Frankfurt) welcomed participants and emphasized VIATT as a key platform connecting German textile innovation with Vietnam’s dynamic market while fostering industry dialogue and partnerships.
• Ms. Silvia Jungbauer (GESAMTMASCHE) showcased Germany’s textile expertise across the value chain and underlined sustainability, innovation, and technology transfer as key pillars for future Germany–Vietnam cooperation.
• Providing a macroeconomic perspective, Mr. Peter Kompalla (AHK Vietnam) shared insights into Vietnam’s development trajectory and its implications for the textile sector, highlighting the country’s ambition to become a high-income economy by 2045 while pursuing net-zero targets by 2050 – a transformation supported by its strategic trade positioning with extensive FTAs, strong government reforms, and a young, skilled, and resilient workforce.
With the participation of 11 German exhibitors representing diverse textile segments, the German Pavilion demonstrated the breadth of German textile capabilities and reinforced VIATT as a promising platform for continued collaboration and market expansion in Vietnam.
