On May 6, 2024, the German Business Association (GBA) held its monthly meeting at Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon, attracting 50 attendees. The session, led by GBA Vice-Chairman Mr. Martin Koerner, featured three keynote speakers:

‣ Ms. Sarah Nguyen, Marketing & Growth Director, Shopee
The event brought together industry leaders to share their insights on strategies that synergize M&A legal perspectives and media innovations within Vietnam’s business context.
The session delved into the dynamics of investment, highlighting the current landscape of M&A transactions, the intricacies of investment and divestment procedures, tax implications, and practical advice for navigating the Vietnamese market.
The discussion also explored the evolving media landscape, emphasizing the impact of Gen Z, the solo economy, and emerging trends such as livestream shopping, artificial intelligence, chat commerce, and short video content. Strategies to enhance brand presence and consumer engagement were shared, alongside a pertinent case study.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed the rapid growth of Vietnam’s e-commerce sector, which reached USD $16 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow 1.5 times by 2025, spurred by the increasing participation of rural and younger demographics. The concept of Content Commerce was introduced, illustrating how compelling content can drive consumers from awareness to purchase within a single session.
Additionally, the session highlighted emerging trends that are transforming market operations and assortment capabilities to improve customer experience and build long-term trust, with a nod to the growing interest in Buy-now-pay-later options, even as Cash on Delivery remains widely preferred.
The session was characterized by its dynamic interaction, with participants eagerly exchanging views and envisioning future prospects.
