HCMC, December 2, 2024 – The GBA held its final Business Meeting of the year, titled “Vietnam 2025: Navigating Geopolitical and Economic Currents,” attracting 117 attendees. The session, led by GBA Board member Mr. Christoph Andermann, featured three keynote speakers:

During the event we brought together industry leaders to explore key factors shaping Vietnam’s future, including its strategic positioning in Southeast Asia, the impact of global trade dynamics, especially after the US elections, and the country’s economic growth prospects. Discussions delved into the challenges and opportunities presented by regional and international relations.

Key Insights:

  • Consumer Confidence: Consumers remain careful in their purchasing decisions and delay certain investments
  • Private Investment & FDI Recovery: Vietnam remains an attractive investment destination, especially in manufacturing as FDI increased by 8.3% year-on-year.
  • Economic Divergence: There is a notable divergence between GDP and trade growth, an important watch item for more qualitative growth
  • Investment Opportunities: Modernizing investments and production lines present significant opportunities. Infrastructure is currently a bottleneck, where new projects are expected

Attendees gained a comprehensive understanding of these currents and strategized on how these developments will impact their companies and operations in Vietnam. The session fostered thoughtful and forward-looking dialogue, preparing businesses to remain resilient and prosperous in this evolving landscape.

The GBA extends heartfelt thanks to the keynote speakers and all participants for their invaluable contributions, which greatly contributed to the event’s success.

Furthermore, the event marked the heartfelt farewell of our board member and GBA delegate to EuroCham Vietnam, Mr. Ingo Brandenburg from Bayer Vietnam. His outstanding contribution to the board has supported our community since 2023. We wish him all the best for his new endeavors in Taiwan.
