GBA at the Global Business Forum 2025

RMIT Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City – 20 August 2025, the German Business Association (GBA) was honored to participate in the Global Business Forum 2025, co-hosted by RMIT Vietnam and the Southern Investment Promotion, Information & Support Center (FIA – Ministry of Finance).

The forum convened policymakers, international business leaders, academics, and students to discuss FDI trends, partnership opportunities, and Vietnam’s strategy to remain an attractive destination in the global recovery era.

Representing GBA were Mr. Alexander Ziehe – Chairman, Ms. Betty Duong – Board Member, and Ms. Quynh Anh Le – Executive Director. Their participation reaffirmed GBA’s long-standing commitment to strengthening German–Vietnamese business partnerships and contributing a strong voice to global multi-stakeholder dialogues.

In his keynote remarks, Chairman Alexander Ziehe emphasized Vietnam’s rising role as a strategic production hub under the EVFTA, pointing to promising growth in high-tech manufacturing, renewable energy, premium consumer goods, vocational training, and digital transformation — all closely aligned with Germany’s expertise in Industry 4.0 and sustainable innovation.

While recognizing ongoing challenges – from administrative procedures to logistics and skills shortages — Mr. Ziehe stressed GBA’s dedication to promoting transparency, reforms, and a fair investment environment to further deepen German–Vietnamese economic cooperation.

Forum Highlights

Alongside GBA’s contributions, the forum featured:

  • A Government address, underscoring FDI as a key driver of growth, with priorities in green economy, high technology, and innovation.
  • International perspectives from  Australian and Indian, sharing experiences and opportunities for cooperation in infrastructure, technology, pharmaceuticals, and digitalization.
  • Practical insights on transformation in management, technology and culture from local business focusing on export markets and international customers 
  • An academic discussion hosted by RMIT, analyzing the role of FDI in moving Vietnam up the global value chain — from assembly to innovation.

The Global Business Forum 2025 offered a comprehensive outlook on Vietnam’s investment landscape, underscoring both opportunities and challenges. Acting as a bridge between German businesses, Vietnamese policymakers, and the international community, GBA remains committed to advancing sustainable development and shared prosperity in Vietnam.
