On September 23, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City hosted a ceremony celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany (1975–2025).
The ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished guests:
· From Germany: Consul General Andrea Maria Sühl; representatives of the Consulate Corps, Mr. Alexander Ziehe – GBA Chairman; GBA members; representatives of German citizens living and working in Ho Chi Minh City; and Vietnamese alumni who studied in Germany.
· From Vietnam: Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee; representatives of municipal departments, agencies, and organizations; the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations; and the Vietnam–Germany Friendship Association.
Vice Chairman Nguyen Loc Ha highlighted 50 years of Vietnam–Germany cooperation spanning trade, investment, and ODA to culture and education. With more than 530 German businesses operating in Vietnam and landmark projects such as the Vietnamese-German University and Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City, the bilateral relationship continues to grow in strength and resilience.
German Consul General Andrea Maria Sühl emphasized Germany’s enduring commitment to Vietnam’s development and future aspirations. She highlighted the strong momentum in trade and investment, vibrant academic cooperation, and joint efforts in sustainability, climate action, and innovation. The Consul General also stressed the importance of reliable partnerships in times of global uncertainty, reaffirming Germany’s role as a trusted partner in Vietnam’s journey toward becoming a high-income country.
The celebration was further enriched by cultural performances that beautifully blended Vietnamese and German artistry, symbolizing the harmony and friendship between the two nations.
This golden milestone is not only a commemoration of the past but also a promise for the future to deepen cooperation in education, science, green technology, healthcare, and sustainable urban development, contributing to peace and shared prosperity.
