The German Business Association (GBA) announced the newly elected fifteen Board of Directors of the year 2024 at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on January 29, 2024. The AGM was held simultaneously in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of 134 members, both virtually and in person. Mr. Alexander Ziehe from Viessmann Vietnam was appointed as the GBA’s Chairman at the first Board meeting on 30 January 2024.
The German Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Dr. Guido Hildner, honored the AGM with his presence. He commended the GBA for its ongoing efforts to foster trade and business relations between German and Vietnamese enterprises in his opening speech.
He shared: “The German Business Association (GBA) and AHK Vietnam recently organized a fruitful business roundtable that allowed the German president Steinmeier and his delegation, as well as the German businesses, to share their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of doing business in Vietnam”.
The German Ambassador Dr. Hildner added: “We are optimistic about the future of our cooperation, especially as the GBA elects its new Board of Directors. We would like to express my gratitude to the outgoing Board of Directors for their service and contribution. We assure the new GBA Board of the German Embassy’s support in Vietnam, and we are eager to collaborate with them. We also value a strong and diverse GBA board, and we are glad to see several female candidates among the nominees”.
The AGM reviewed the GBA’s achievements, highlights, and financial report for 2023, and presented its outlook and strategic directions. The GBA members also elected the Board of Directors for 2024 by the e-voting system including fifteen representatives:

The meeting also bid farewell to the outgoing GBA Co-Chairman Mr. Elmar Dutt (2023), Vice-Chairman Mr. Marko Walde (2012-2023), Board Member Mr. André de Jong (2021-2023), and Board Member Mr. Dirk Hartmann (2023), and expressed gratitude for their outstanding contribution and steadfast support to the GBA community.
The newly appointed GBA Chairman Mr. Alexander Ziehe, Managing Director of Viessmann Vietnam expressed his gratitude to the GBA members for their trust and support.
As the former GBA Co-Chairmen, Mr. Elmar Dutt and Mr. Torben Minko have made remarkable contributions to the organization and its growth. They warmly welcomed the new leadership and said: “We have witnessed the GBA’s transformation, and we are confident that it will continue to thrive under the guidance of its new Chairman and Board of Directors. Mr. Ziehe is an exceptional leader who has impressed us and the entire GBA Board of Directors with his clarity, dedication, and vision. He is the perfect choice to lead the GBA to new heights”.
The 2024’s GBA Chairman Mr. Ziehe shared: “We, the newly elected board of directors, are humbled to follow the legacy of such influential leaders and former Board of Directors to shape the future of the GBA and its members”.
