The selection of this date has a reason: The 22 of January marks the Franco-German Friendship Day, 56 years to that day, the Élysée Treaty was signed by General de Gaulle and Federal Chancellor Adenauer, which marked France and Germany’s historic reconciliation.
The German Business Association (GBA) and the German Chamber for Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam) joined hands with the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV) to organize the Feierabend Rendez-vous (Feierabend [to celebrate+evening, German for after work] + Rendez-vouz [to meet each other in French]) to bring together the two largest European Business Communities for a fresh start into 2021 and good collaboration.
CCIF Vietnam Chairman Thibaut Giroux and GBA Board Member and Chief Delegate of the GIC/AHK Vietnam Marko Walde opened the event, supported by Mr. Frédéric Berner, Managing Director of CCIF Germany and Mr. Patrick Brandmaier, General Director of the GIC/AHK in Paris send us their regards and thoughts via a video message.
Over 100 guests from both communities came together at Le Square in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City and started their weekend together with a selection of French and German specialties: Typical French Canapes like Croque Monsieur were prepared by Le Square Epicier Fin, Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City introduced German “Abendbrot”, prepared by Chef Andreas Ertle to the guests. To underline the character of the event even further, French red wine and German white wine (Sponsored by Rheinland-Pfalz in Vietnam and Vinoteka Vietnam). The guests also enjoyed German beer (Dickelacker Vietnam) and French Beer.
Thank you for joining us! We’ve received a lot of positive feedback on the event that brought us closer together. We are looking forward to organizing similar events in the future and start a new tradition of German-French collaboration in Vietnam.
