Topic:
New paradigms in IT such as Cloud Computing, Big Data and IoT offer new chances and opportunities from a business perspective. At the same time, they pose severe challenges to Information Security as they render classical security strategies obsolete. In this talk, we discuss the risks associated with these paradigms, present practical mitigation strategies and current research initiatives allowing for the secure use of such technologies.

Speaker:
VGU Professor Martin Kappes is head of the Research Group for Computer Science and IT at the Vietnamese-German University and will be the speaker for this Webinar. His focus is on applied research in Information Security, particularly Network Security and Network Surveillance jointly with partners from industry, public sector and academia, tackling significant practical problems. Prof. Kappes holds Degrees in Computer Science (Dipl.-Inform.) and Economics (Dipl.-Kfm.) and a Ph.D. in Computer Science. He is author of a textbook on Information Security, published over 70 papers in scientific journals and conference proceedings and received 9 US Patents.
