Dong Nai City, 6 August 2026 – As Dong Nai enters a new stage of development driven by the launch of Long Thanh International Airport, expanding transport infrastructure and an increasingly ambitious vision for high-value industries, the dialogue between the city’s leadership and the German business community is also entering a new chapter.
Rather than focusing solely on operational challenges, both sides are looking beyond today’s investment climate towards a shared objective: creating a transparent, modern and sustainable business environment while building an industrial ecosystem capable of supporting innovation, advanced manufacturing and long-term competitiveness.
This shared vision was at the heart of the Strategic Dialogue between the Dong Nai City People’s Committee, the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Finance, and the German Business Association (GBA), held on 6 August 2026.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Kim Long, Member of the Standing Committee of the Dong Nai City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai City People’s Committee, and attended by senior representatives from the city’s key departments and agencies, as well as the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Finance.
Leading the GBA delegation was Mr. Alexander Ziehe, Chairman of the German Business Association, accompanied by Mr. Andre de Jong, EuroCham Delegate and General Director of Bosch Vietnam; Mr. Maximilian Rummert, GBA Board Member and Managing Director of Bayer Vietnam; Mr. Michael Wekezer, GBA Board Member and Country Managing Partner of Rödl & Partner Vietnam; Ms. Quynh Anh Le, Executive Director of GBA, together with representatives from nearly 40 German companies and GBA member organisations operating across manufacturing, technology, logistics, finance, legal services and industrial development.
Opening the dialogue, Mr. Nguyen Kim Long emphasised that the meeting was not merely an occasion to exchange information, but a practical and open dialogue where the city could better understand the concerns of businesses, listen to investors’ expectations and work together on solutions that could be implemented immediately after the meeting.
He reaffirmed that Dong Nai is shifting from attracting investment by quantity to attracting high-quality investment, prioritising high technology, supporting industries, logistics, digital transformation and green development. Supported by 9.81% GRDP growth in the first half of 2026 and the rapidly developing infrastructure surrounding Long Thanh International Airport, Dong Nai is positioning itself as one of Southern Vietnam’s leading industrial, logistics and innovation centres.
Representing the German business community, Mr. Alexander Ziehe highlighted Dong Nai’s long-standing importance as a strategic investment destination for German companies. Today, many leading German manufacturers including Bosch, Bayer, Schaeffler, FRAMAS and Henkel have established successful operations in the province, contributing not only investment capital but also advanced technologies, vocational training, innovation and responsible business practices.
“As Dong Nai enters a new phase of development, German companies see significant opportunities to further strengthen this partnership,” Mr. Ziehe noted. “Beyond expanding manufacturing, our members are committed to supporting the city’s industrial upgrading through technology transfer, sustainability, workforce development and innovation.”
He also welcomed Dong Nai’s recent administrative restructuring, expressing confidence that the city’s new governance model would further improve regulatory efficiency, strengthen competitiveness and create an even more attractive investment environment.
Reflecting the evolving priorities of international investors, GBA presented a comprehensive set of recommendations covering administrative reform, industrial park planning, logistics connectivity, the Long Thanh Airport ecosystem, ESG implementation, green industrial transformation, digitalisation, customs and taxation, skilled workforce development and stronger linkages between foreign-invested enterprises and Vietnamese suppliers.
Significantly, the dialogue demonstrated that German businesses are no longer focused solely on resolving operational issues. Instead, they are increasingly looking to partner with Dong Nai in shaping the next generation of industrial development—one that is driven by innovation, sustainability, resilient supply chains and high-value manufacturing.
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Kim Long reaffirmed that the success of the dialogue should not be measured by the number of recommendations raised, but by the number of issues effectively resolved afterwards. He instructed relevant departments and agencies to review every recommendation, assign clear responsibilities, establish implementation timelines and proactively update businesses on progress.
He further emphasised that the satisfaction of enterprises remains one of the most important benchmarks of government performance, reaffirming Dong Nai’s commitment to creating a transparent, efficient and investor-friendly business environment.
The Strategic Dialogue reaffirmed the strong partnership between Dong Nai and the German business community while highlighting a shared ambition to move beyond investment promotion towards long-term collaboration in industrial upgrading, sustainable development and innovation. As Dong Nai enters its next growth chapter, both sides expressed confidence that continued public-private dialogue will remain essential in shaping one of Vietnam’s most competitive investment destinations.
