Bayer Celebrates 30 Years of Impact in Vietnam: Power of Partnership

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – On November 21, Bayer Vietnam marked an extraordinary milestone with a celebration of its 30th anniversary in the country. The event brought together more than 100 guests, including Josefine Wallat, Consul General of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City, key partners, government representatives, press and Board members of EuroCham and GBA, to reflect on the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainable development and innovation in Vietnam.

Since Bayer’s establishment in Vietnam in 1994, the company has contributed significantly to the country’s growth in healthcare and agriculture. Bayer operates thriving facilities in Dong Nai and offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with a focus on cardiology, women’s healthcare, oncology, consumer health products, and crop protection.

Maximilian Rummert, Executive Representative of Bayer Vietnam, addressed the anniversary gathering, highlighting the company’s dedication to sustainability, innovation, and partnership: “Sustainability is central to Bayer’s mission, emphasizing innovation and community commitment. We strive to enhance well-being through self-care solutions, improve healthcare access, and empower farmers to adapt to climate change. Over the past 30 years, Bayer Vietnam has harnessed the power of partnership to create meaningful impacts in both healthcare and agriculture.”

Sustainable Agriculture: Empowering Farmers for the Future

Bayer Vietnam’s agricultural initiatives focus on supporting Vietnamese farmers through innovative solutions. Through partnerships with organizations like the National Agricultural Extension Centre (NAEC) and the Western Highlands Agro-Forestry Scientific and Technical Institute, Bayer has implemented two key projects: Forward Farming and Better Life Farming. These initiatives aim to help farmers thrive in a changing climate by adopting smart and regenerative farming practices, ultimately improving crop yields and quality.

The Forward Farming initiative, which partners with NAEC, focuses on driving the transition to sustainable farming practices for key crops like rice, coffee, and durian. This project was recently honored with the Public-Private Partnership of the Year award in the agriculture category at a GovMedia event in Singapore.

Advancing Healthcare in Vietnam

In the healthcare sector, Bayer Vietnam has built strong partnerships with the Ministry of Health, hospitals, and healthcare providers to improve access to high-quality care. The company’s commitment to women’s health is demonstrated through initiatives like the Science for Her campaign, which raises awareness on topics such as contraception, endometriosis, and menstrual health.

Bayer has also partnered with Siemens to enhance cardiovascular diagnostics and with PhytoPharma to improve healthcare access across the country. These collaborations are part of Bayer’s ongoing mission to provide comprehensive solutions in cardiovascular, oncology, ophthalmology, and radiology fields, improving patient care outcomes.

Corporate Social Responsibility and Education

Bayer’s commitment to corporate social responsibility extends beyond business, with numerous initiatives aimed at fostering societal engagement. One such project is Science Switch, developed in partnership with Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) and Khan Quang Do Publisher. This program, part of Bayer’s global Making Science Make Sense initiative, aims to develop science literacy among Vietnamese students by introducing them to the concept of One Health, a holistic approach to understanding the interconnections between human, animal, and environmental health.

A Future of Sustainable Growth

As Bayer celebrates 30 years of operations in Vietnam and 161 years globally, Rummert concluded, “We honor Bayer’s legacy while reflecting on the positive impact we’ve made in Vietnam, driven by innovation and a shared vision for a sustainable future. We are deeply grateful for the invaluable support of our partners, the dedication of our employees, and our collective commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

Bayer looks forward to continuing its impactful journey in Vietnam, fostering innovation and sustainable development to improve the lives of millions of people and contribute to the country’s long-term growth.
