[RECAP] STRENGTHENING EU–VIETNAM PARTNERSHIP: FROM HIGH-LEVEL DIALOGUE TO CONCRETE ACTION

The German Business Association (GBA) was represented by its Chairman, Mr. Alexander Ziehe, as part of the EuroCham Vietnam delegation during a series of high-level engagements in Brussels, Belgium.

The visit included discussions with Vietnamese and European leaders, as well as engagements with Hanoi’s leadership, aimed at strengthening economic ties, exploring new investment opportunities, and advancing cooperation between Vietnam, Germany, and the European Union.

🤝 High-Level Business Roundtable with Vietnam’s Leadership

A key highlight was the High-Level Business Roundtable with H.E. To Lam, General Secretary and President of Vietnam, bringing together senior Vietnamese and European business leaders to discuss opportunities for strengthening economic cooperation and investment ties.

💡 Bringing the Voice of European SMEs to the Table

During the roundtable, Mr. Alexander Ziehe highlighted the important role of European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam’s economic development, while addressing practical challenges faced by foreign businesses and emphasizing key priorities for improving the investment environment:

🔹 Accelerating the digitalisation of public administration.
🔹 Enhancing regulatory consistency and transparency.
🔹 Streamlining administrative and investment approval processes.
🔹 Unlocking further opportunities under the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

His remarks underscored the need to translate policy dialogue into tangible improvements that enable European businesses, particularly SMEs, to invest, operate, and grow sustainably in Vietnam. H.E. To Lam acknowledged in his comments our policy recommendations and the important role of German know-how plays in Vietnam.

🇪🇺 Engaging with European Institutions and Business Leaders

On 21 October, the delegation continued its engagements in Brussels through meetings with European institutions and business representatives, connecting practical business challenges with broader policy priorities in trade, climate action, and energy investment.

These exchanges reinforced the importance of closer EU–Vietnam cooperation, particularly in unlocking the full potential of the EVFTA, promoting sustainable investment, and transforming shared ambitions into concrete business opportunities.

🏙️ Strengthening Investment Cooperation with Hanoi

The GBA delegation, alongside representatives from GBA member companies, including Siemens and Deutsches Haus, engaged with Hanoi’s leadership to explore opportunities for deeper economic cooperation and strengthen ties between the capital and German investors.

Discussions focused on Hanoi’s growing investment potential, opportunities for business collaboration, and the importance of fostering a transparent, competitive, and business-friendly environment to support innovation and sustainable growth.

GBA remains committed to representing the interests of German businesses, advocating for an improved investment climate, and fostering long-term economic cooperation between Germany, Europe, and Vietnam.

We look forward to building on this momentum and turning dialogue into action, creating new opportunities for businesses on both sides.
