On 7 September 2026, the German Business Association – GBA welcomed nearly 60 business leaders, professionals, and members to its Monthly Business Meeting for an engaging discussion on the rapid development of AI to humanoid technologies and what impact that could have on businesses in Vietnam.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Tuan Vi, GBA Vice-Chairman and Vice President SCM & Logistics Asia Pacific at Schaeffler, who guided the discussion on how technological advances in AI and Humanoids are increasingly moving from innovation into practical business applications.
𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬:
- Mr. Laurence Cheung, Managing Director of DHL Global Forwarding Vietnam, shared how automation is already being applied across the booking and shipment process, from receiving customer information to feeding data directly into internal systems. By reducing manual data entry and enabling real-time cargo visibility, AI and automation are helping businesses make operations faster, more accurate, and more transparent, demonstrating how these technologies are already creating practical value in everyday business processes.
- Dr. Hai-Nguyen Nguyen, PhD · Lecturer in Robotics & Mechatronics of RMIT shared insights into the next frontier of AI: physical AI— robots that can interact with and learn from the real world. From flying robots to humanoids capable of performing increasingly complex tasks, the technology is advancing rapidly. More importantly, these developments are already taking place in Vietnam, with growing research, investment, and business interest in robotics and humanoid technologies.
- Adj. Prof. Boon Siew Han, Senior Director, SHARE at NTU and Schaeffler, brought the discussion from technological development to business application and value creation. While humanoid robotics is developing quickly, the real opportunity lies in moving beyond impressive demonstrations towards actual deployment and measurable business value. For businesses and investors, the key question is not simply what robots can do, but where they can solve real problems and create value in real-world environments.
From automation in logistics, to physical AI research, to humanoid deployment, yesterday’s discussion highlighted how quickly AI and Humanoids are moving from the future into the present.
For Vietnam, this transformation presents not only technological opportunities, but also new possibilities for innovation, investment, manufacturing, and business development.
