[Recap] GBA Participates in Conference on Ho Chi Minh City’s 100-Year Vision Master Plan

On 2 June 2026, the German Business Association (GBA), represented by Chairman Mr. Alexander Ziehe, together with Ms. Andrea Sühl, Consul General of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City, joined more than 300 policymakers, experts, business leaders, and international stakeholders at the conference “Ho Chi Minh City Master Planning with a 100-Year Vision.”

The conference marked an important step in shaping the future development of Ho Chi Minh City following its recent expansion into a metropolitan area of more than 6,700 km² and over 14 million inhabitants. Discussions focused on building a globally competitive, sustainable, and highly livable mega-city through integrated urban planning, modern infrastructure, transport-oriented development (TOD), and enhanced access to housing, healthcare, and education.

Particular attention was given to the city’s long-term ambition to become a leading regional hub for high-tech industries, logistics, international finance, innovation, education, and healthcare. By 2050, Ho Chi Minh City aims to reach a population of 20–22 million people, achieve double-digit economic growth, and rank among the world’s top 100 most livable cities. For the German business community, the conference highlighted the city’s strong commitment to long-term planning, infrastructure development, sustainability, and innovation – key areas that align closely with the strengths and investment interests of German companies in Vietnam.

GBA welcomes this forward-looking initiative and looks forward to continuing its engagement with policymakers and stakeholders in supporting Ho Chi Minh City’s development as a leading destination for investment, innovation, and sustainable growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
