The German Business Association (GBA) was pleased to join a recent delegation visit to Long Thanh International Airport, led by EuroCham Vietnam and headed by Mr. Jean-Jacques Bouflet, Vice Chairman for a working session with Airports Corporation of Vietnam.

It also included affiliated chambers such as GBA, NordCham, SCCV, ICham, CEEC, and DBAV.

Representing GBA, Mr. Dirk Arend, Vice Chairman, participated in discussions alongside representatives of other business associations and Vietnamese partners, including Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).

The visit provided valuable insights into the progress of Long Thanh Airport, a strategic infrastructure project expected to handle up to 100 million passengers and 5 million tones of cargo annually, positioning Vietnam as a major regional aviation and logistics hub.

Key highlights:

  • Exploring opportunities to enhance aviation connectivity and cargo capacity
  • The first commercial flights are expected within the year, marking an important milestone in the airport’s initial operations.
  • Strengthening Vietnam’s role in global supply chains and logistics networks
  • Discussing how airport infrastructure can elevate tourism experiences and investment attractiveness

From GBA’s perspective, this visit underscores the importance of international collaboration and knowledge exchange in shaping world-class infrastructure and sustainable growth.

We look forward to continuing dialogue with partners to support Vietnam’s ambitions in becoming a leading hub for aviation, logistics, and tourism in Southeast Asia.
