Welcoming the New Consul General of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City, H.E. Andrea Maria Sühl

The German Business Association (GBA) was honored to welcome H.E. Andrea Maria Sühl, the newly appointed Consul General of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City, who began her term in early August 2025.

The welcome began with a detailed briefing by GBA Chairman, Mr. Alexander Ziehe, and a tour of the Deutsches Haus – a symbolic center for German – Vietnamese business and cultural exchange. This was followed by a warm reception at the GBA office, where H.E Andrea Maria Sühl also met with GBA Executive Director Ms. Quynh Anh Le and the GBA team.

During the meetings, the Chairman presented an overview of GBA’s key activities and shared aspirations for closer cooperation with the Consulate to further strengthen the German business community in Vietnam. The discussion highlighted:

‣ The strong partnership between GBA and the German Consulate supports the success of businesses in Vietnam.

‣ Sharing insights on the wide range of industries driving Vietnam’s business landscape, from export activities to domestic consumption.

‣ The role of GBA’s over 400 GBA members in advancing German–Vietnamese economic relations.

‣ The rising visibility and appeal of German brands to Vietnamese consumers.

H.E. Sühl expressed her enthusiasm for collaborating with GBA on major cultural and community events, including Deutschland Fest, Oktoberfest in three cities, and other significant initiatives. This meeting comes at a milestone moment – GBA celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2025, marking three decades of fostering German–Vietnamese business cooperation. This year also commemorates 50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany, underscoring a long-standing partnership built on mutual respect, economic collaboration, and cultural exchange.

The GBA looks forward to working closely with the Consulate General under H.E. Sühl’s leadership to continue building bridges between our two countries – supporting business growth, creating opportunities, and celebrating the vibrant German–Vietnamese community in Vietnam.
