Quang Nam, Vietnam – February 27, 2025 – A German business delegation, led by Mr. Alexander Ziehe, Chairman of the German Business Association (GBA), along with Board members Mr. Erick Contreras, Mr. Huynh Buu Quang, and Executive Director Mrs. Quynh Anh Le met with the Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Phan Thai Binh, and key local authorities to enhance economic cooperation and support German enterprises in the province.
Vice Chairman Mr. Phan Thai Binh highlighted Quang Nam’s strategic location, strong FDI attraction, and growing appeal to international investors, particularly in manufacturing, processing, tourism, and services. He emphasized the province’s commitment to improving infrastructure and workforce development to facilitate business operations.
In recent years, there has been a growing geographical diversification, with increasing interest in Central Vietnam, especially Quang Nam. The province is now home to leading German companies such as Dräxlmaier, OBE, Groz-Beckert, Robinson, and Kärcher. Alexander Ziehe emphasized the importance of direct involvement from department leaders in complex cases to build investor trust. He highlighted Quang Nam’s success, its strong technological foundation, and its potential for future growth. He also shared insights from his previous visit and expressed optimism about the cooperation between Germany and Vietnam, especially in the context of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
During the discussion, GBA members highlighted key challenges and proposed solutions, including the need for skilled workforce training and stronger university collaboration, improvements in transport, logistics, and power supply, and streamlining bureaucratic processes to align with international standards. They also emphasized the importance of promoting export-oriented production through investment incentives, addressing administrative complexities, and advancing digitalization to enhance efficiency, particularly in customs procedures.
Mr. Wolfgang Thomar, Vice President of Kärcher, praised Quang Nam’s improving business environment and suggested tailored workforce training policies. Mr. David Will, General Director of Dräxlmaier Automotive Vietnam, stated that the company has been operating in Quang Nam since 2021 and has received substantial support. Since then, Dräxlmaier has achieved significant technical milestones, thanks to a dedicated, loyal, and reliable workforce. The company has overcome initial challenges with untrained and unmotivated workers to build a strong business foundation and remains appreciative of its investment decision in Vietnam.
Provincial leaders assured continued reforms to enhance Quang Nam’s investment climate, including tax incentives, fast-tracked investment approvals, and infrastructure upgrades such as the international expansion of Chu Lai Airport and logistics hubs.
The meeting concluded with optimism about Quang Nam’s potential as a key destination for German investment, reinforcing the strong economic partnership between Germany and Vietnam.
