The German Business Association (GBA) is delighted to welcome Ambassador Helga Margarete Barth on her first trip to Ho Chi Minh City on December 2, 2024. This visit underscores the close partnership between the GBA and the German Embassy, which is crucial in our advocacy work to support our members’ interests. To mark this occasion, the GBA organized a business roundtable, providing a platform for German investors in Vietnam to openly share opportunities, learnings, and challenges. Our members highlighted their activities and investments in Vietnam, explaining why they chose this vibrant market.
The roundtable also featured open discussions on several key topics:
- Diversification of investments and supply chains, leveraging Vietnam to lower dependencies and increase flexibility for global companies.
- Skilled labor force availability and training, understanding how German companies retain and develop talent.
- Administrative reform needs, as Vietnam is facing increasing regional competitors and need to improve its competitiveness to keep attracting FDIs.
Ambassador Barth highlighted the insightful discussions at the roundtable, noting the important role of German investors in Vietnam. She emphasized the partnership between the German Missions in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with the GBA in supporting businesses and committed to ongoing collaboration to help German enterprises thrive and contribute to Vietnam’s economic growth.
GBA Chairman Alexander Ziehe expressed gratitude, stating, “We thank Ambassador Barth for her strong support for the German business community. Our roundtable was a great opportunity to exchange in all transparency. I am personally deeply thankful for the strong commitment the embassy offers to our members.”
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the 22 participants and the German Embassy team in Vietnam for making this event a success.
